Pikipruukki has proceeded to use green electricity

Pikipruukki has proceeded to supply so called green electricity, which is produced with renewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources which produce electricity are e.g. wind- and solar energy, hydropower, landfill gas and biogas.

Switching to green electricity makes it possible to effectively control emissions: it reduces carbon dioxide emissions by around 12 000 tons per year. The electricity consumed by the residents of Pikipruukki does not therefore cause unnecessary emissions to the environment.
