Pikipruukki’s Ravilaakso construction project is progressing – the first rental homes in the new residential area will be completed in 2027.

The construction of the new Ravilaakso residential area in Vaasa is moving into the implementation phase. The project by Kiinteistö Oy Pikipruukki is the company’s first new residential development in years and represents a significant step in the development of the area. The project has received a partial approval for an interest subsidy loan from the Centre for State-Subsidised Housing Construction (Varke), enabling the project to proceed towards construction.

In the first phase, 39 state-subsidized rental apartments will be built in Ravilaakso. Some of the apartments are intended for the long-term homeless, and state investment support for special groups has been granted for their construction. The project will increase the availability of affordable housing and support socially sustainable urban development in Vaasa.

Following a competitive tendering process, Pikipruukki’s Board selected WasaCon Oy as the contractor for the project. WasaCon Oy will serve as the main contractor with overall responsibility for implementation. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, WasaCon Oy is a nationwide construction company whose personnel have extensive experience in residential construction. The construction contract was signed today, 2 June 2026.

Cooperation enabled the launch of the project – Pikipruukki’s Board emphasizes the close cooperation with the City of Vaasa that made the project possible.

Thanks to the zoning solutions, the project became a feasible and suitable development for the construction of affordable rental housing,” says Chair of the Board Sari Somppi.

Construction company WasaCon Oy sees the project as important both regionally and from the perspective of the company’s own operations.

Construction of Pikipruukki’s project will begin in late summer 2026. The development of Ravilaakso will proceed in phases, and over the coming years the area will grow into a significant new residential district in Vaasa.
